Standard Bank Fundraiser to raise funds for Lakehaven Children’s home
Pre-planning the fundraiser:
Standard Bank Corporate Business KwaZulu-Natal raises funds towards Lakehaven Children’s Home. Their aim is to continue their existing support to this Home, as part of their Corporate Social Investment commitment portfolio.
NeXstep Events and Functions (Pty) Ltd, as an initiative partner, co-design a fun event for staff to participate in the fundraiser. Sharks Rugby is Kwa-Zulu Natal’s (KZN) provincial rugby team and a well-known sporting brand. Being in KZN, we decide that a Sharks theme is appropriate and will create hype which will encourage ticket sales.
NeXstep Events’ services include a database of keynote speakers and well-known sports champions. Former Springbok and current CEO of SA Rugby Legends, Stefan Terblanche agrees to act as a guest speaker on the day.
Standard Bank Fundraiser ticket sales
How does it work?
Staff purchase R20 tickets to enter a lucky draw. The main prize…. a once in a lifetime singed & framed 2018 Currie Cup Players’ Sharks Jersey.
NeXstep approach The Sharks team to sign the jersey and the team does not hesitate to support the initiative. All the players from the 2018 Currie Cup Final team, signed the jersey.
We display the framed & signed Sharks jersey in Standard Bank KZN Regional Office Kingsmead’s foyer as an encouragement for staff to enter the lucky draw.
Departments from different divisions challenge each other to see who could raise the most funds from ticket sales.
It’s time for the lucky draw. Stefan Terblanche is as anxious as everyone else. Our fundraiser ends with great excitement and loud cheering when Stefan opens the winner’s name.
Fundraiser handover ceremony
A festive atmosphere welcomes all staff entering Standard Bank’s Regional office on Friday morning 7 December 2018. Live music, floating balloons, and a photo booth corner contribute to an uplifting working environment.
SA rugby legend Stefan Terblanche signs memorabilia items pose, for photos with some fans which leads to leadership joining in the excitement. Everyone gathers around the main prize.
Proceedings open with a word of thanks by the chairman of the board of Lakehaven Children’s Home.
Anxious staff awaits the draw. Organizers announce that ticket sales raised a whopping R20 000. To our huge surprise, Standard Bank Corporate Business double this amount and a total of R40 000 is handed over to Lakehaven Children’s Home. The applause from the staff is overwhelming and heartfelt.
